When An OFW get sick

Posted by Rexted on March 10, 2007

It is about 4 days now that my son was not able to go school because of the viral Infection on his throat. It is very hard for my wife since she has to attend always.

I remember the days when I was only one here without my family. There was a time that I got sick and nobody to lean on to take care of me. It is always the case when an got sick on their workplace away from the family.

It is good if your roomate has some pity on you that he will prepare your food before they leave to work. But what if you don’t have anybody with you in the room. Because you are leaving in a special accomodation. Nobody will know that you are sick. It is good that there are mobile phones now, in just one call anybody in the camp will be notified that you are sick.

It is hard to get sick overseas, You have to cook even you are sick, You have to do laundry works and you don’t have anybody to talk to since all your friends are on their own work.

So it is good and I am blessed that my family is with me here :)

Overseas Filipino Workers

Posted by Rexted on March 3, 2007

Do you know what OFW means ?

  1. An OFW is a Filipino workers who chooses to work outside Philippines.
  2. An OFW is a Filipino workers who chooses to leave their love ones in the Philippines to get a bigger income outside the country.

And now the question is as follows :

  1. Why do some OFW does not succeed in their goal?
    • I think one of the reasons is the misconception that everyone outside the Philippines has lots of money. Well infact I know some OFW which tries to send all his income and then after that, He will just budget the small amount that He have for the whole month. In which most of the time He cannot buy a decent food for himself. ( but ofcourse His family does not know this )
    • Some OFW is addicted in gambling. On my previous company I have seen a coworker with lots of Jewelry on his hands and neck and then after 3 days when I ask him where is his Jewelry. He just told me that it is all gone because of gambling ( Poor People )
    • There are some OFW on which when He goes out of the country his primary goal is to help his family but when he reaches that country what He did is finding another partner that will just drain his finances. ( The looser here is the family in Philippines )
    • There are some OFW that with the small mistakes of the Employer, They will just resign because of their EGO ( Now after coming back in Philippines what will you do? )
  2. If there are OFW who does not succeed, Is there anybody succeeded?
    • Of course there are lots of OFW succeeded. You can see lots of big houses in Manila Subdivision being made by OFW Family.
    • There are some who have even put some business after his retirement.

Now do you still want to be an OFW?  Why not just always remember that whenever you step at the airport , Your family is waiting for you.

What classification you fall in this category. Do you succeed or not? Share it with us. And let me hear from You.

AGLOCO let’s give it a try..

Posted by Rexted on February 11, 2007

I recently joined AGLOCO because of a friend recommended it to me. I am now promoting it to you because I like the idea and I want you to share in what I think will be an exciting new Internet concept.

AGLOCO’s story is simple:

Do you realize how valuable you are? Advertisers, search providers and online retailers are paying billions to reach you while you surf. How much of that money are you making? NONE!

AGLOCO thinks you deserve a piece of the action.

AGLOCO collects money from those companies on behalf of its members. (For example, Google currently pays AOL 10 cents for every Google search by an AOL user. And Google still has enough profit to pay $1.6 billion dollars for YouTube, an 18-month old site full of content that YouTube’s users did not get paid for!

AGLOCO will work to get its Members their share of this and more.

AGLOCO is building a new form of online community that they call an Economic Network. They are not only paying Members their fair share, but they’re building a community that will generate the kind of fortune that YouTube. But instead of that wealth making only a few people rich, the entire community will get its share. What’s the catch? No catch - no spyware, no pop-ups and no spam - membership and software are free and AGLOCO is 100% member owned. Privacy is a core value and AGLOCO never sells or rents member information. So do both both of us a favor: Sign up for AGLOCO right now! If you use this link to sign up, I automatically get credit for referring you and helping to build AGLOCO .

So why don’t we try it and see for the result. :)

Having paid advertisement on your blog is not bad, But you have to consider Lorelle VanFossen post at Blog Herald regarding  ” Busting Blog Ad Clutter ” according to her

” My eyes hurt scanning the page looking for the words of wisdom I knew would be there. I had to poke and scroll around looking for the magic words. Finally I found them, under 6 rows (and 8 ads) between the header and the content.”

Really it is very annoying to get too much advertisement in the page. I totally agree with her points on her post.

Bussiness Tips

Posted by Rexted on January 22, 2007

A note from Russelle S. Trinidad, of sme.com.ph on their e-mail for ” SME BizLink Vol. 27 No. 4 January 22 118th Issue ”, which have a very nice comments she noted for year of 2007.

Sharpening Your Edge

This year is expected to be an exciting one for SMEs, with new opportunities to grow the business. To help boost sales, entrepreneurs will need to sharpen their competitive edge.

Check out the competition. Visit their stores, real and virtual. Try out their products or services. Read their ads, annual reports and publications. Do this with regularity.

Do things differently. Being different could mean better faster service, extra-friendly, accommodating staff, discounts for repeat customers. The list could go on.

Give away free stuff. Everybody loves a freebie. Get people to try your menu by offering free samples. Provide free information downloads from your website or volunteer your time as a resource in community events.

Focus, focus, focus. Companies like coconut-based resins supplier Kemwerke, Inc. and Orange Juice clothes boutique have earned success by concentrating on specialized or emerging niches in the market.

Talk to your customers. Solicit ideas from your buyers to try to shape your product or service to better meet their needs.

Embrace Technology. Haven’t got a website yet? It’s about time you did!

Keep honing that edge to razor sharpness.

Above points are all relevant in  making your bussiness succeed this year, and I believe that her last note regarding technology, will play a major role. Since marketing is one of the key to a successful business.

Bloggy Award Review

Posted by Rexted on January 20, 2007

It is an honor for me to received an honest review of my site by Bloggy Award and I would like to commend them for that. I appreciate the grade 6 that they have given me for Reading Enjoyment, since when I check some of my post it is really having a wrong grammar :) and even without proper punctuation marks. I think after this review, I will try to be careful on my grammars so that my readers in future will be happy reading this Blogs. :) .

For the Visual Aesthetics I think it can be changed if I have my own domain. Since I cannot edit the templates.

But still I think a total grade of 8 is not bad..

You may see their review below and available here.

An Expression of Myself

A personal journal of a man who loves his family and is working hard to provide for them. You can read Rexted’s thoughts on family, Christianity, business, and everything Tech in here.

Visual Aesthetics - 8

This blog looks very organized and has a simple but nice safe color scheme. However it looks a bit to utilitarian for me and it looks pretty cold. It would be better if the entries’ fonts were a bit larger than the fonts used on the link on the sidebar because I find myself drawn to read the sidebar contents more than the entries.

User Friendliness - 10

A very very organized blog. It is quite impossible to get lost in this blog since everything has its place. Very readable and navigable.

Reading Enjoyment - 6

Writing is not one of the author’s strong points. His English is peppered with grammatical errors but you can understand the point he’s trying to conveying. You can’t really take it against him though since English is not his native language though a bit of editing will go a long way in making his posts more enjoyable to read.

User Info - 10

Since the author is into tech stuff this blog has lots of useful information to yield. Aside from the usual tech stuff you can also read about life as an Overseas Foreign Worker in Saudi Arabia, his native country - the Philippines, business, and Christianity.

Overall Experience - 8

A pretty average blog. A blog with lots of useful information and lots of improvements still to be made in terms of visual appeal and in the author’s writing skills.

Thanks for the review. I will try my best to have a nice blog.

Filipino Businessman

Posted by Rexted on January 16, 2007

Are you an OFW like me whose thinking of having a business someday when you retire? I think Entrepinoys Blog will help you think of what business you may be willing to start.

It is a blog of fellow OFW whose objective is to evangelize people about business. It has lot of resources with regards to business in Philippines. It has also some links connecting to Philippines agency which will be very helpfull in fulfilling your dreams having a Bussiness.

The next question is , Does Philippines is the best location to start a Bussiness? or rather it is better to find some other location outside Philippines to do some business. In the television being shown here in Filipino Channel there are also lots of Filipino becoming very successful doing some Bussiness even outside the Philippines.

For example here in Saudi Arabia there are some Filipinos becoming a Partners of Saudi to start a Bussiness. Some Failed and some becomes successful. I have seen one via TFC in Dubai and in US where Filipinos is selling Pandesal and becomes successful.

Well I thinks it is still depends on the Entrepreneur on how He is going to handle his Bussiness even it is in Philippines or outside Philippines. But I do believe nowadays Internet plays a Major role in having your business be advertise if you are targeting a national buyers.

Printed Media near to End?

Posted by Rexted on January 14, 2007

According to Techcrunch:

Jason Calacanis, the former CEO of Engadget’s parent company, Weblogs, Inc., told me earlier today that the site had nearly 10 million page views on Tuesday when they covered the iPhone announcement - ten times their normal traffic of a million or so page views per day.

Wow.. What a page view. That only means that there are lots of people around the world wants to catch the latest Technology that CES and Macworld had exposed. But is it another war versus Online Blogging and Printed Media News Because in Printed Media we need to wait for another day or month till we know the latest things around the world. Not to mention we have to pay this things unlike in the Internet we just have to browse and read.

Are we seeing the end of Printed Media? . If most of the people in the future had Internet Connection then who will then waste their money buying the printed News. If I where them I just buy a printer and Print it our for future reference. or I may print thru PDF maker.

That’s all folks.. what do you think?
